Reaper is a full DAW and an amazing price. Very easy to pick up on the software w/ Studio One, and the entry level versions are free or inexpensive. If you're strapped for cash, I would start with Reaper or one of the entry Studio One versions. And then you may kick yourself a little bit b/c you could've just started out on a platform actually meant for music that will do the things you musically want to do, and easily.
